According to The Indianapolis drugmaker Eli Lilly and Co the drug necitumumab or IMC-11F8, when combined with standard chemotherapy agents gemcitabine and cisplatin, increased overall survival compared with patients taking chemotherapy alone.
But side effects included blood clots, a problem that put an end to an earlier late-stage trial of the injectable medicine.
Necitumumab was tested in patients with the "squamous" form of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that had spread to other parts of the body. Necitumumab was developed as a potential successor to the lung cancer drug Erbitux that Lilly acquired before. Lilly in October said ramucirumab, when used as a stand-alone treatment, improved overall survival in a late-stage study of patients with stomach cancer.

The germs that cause Necrotizing fasciitis disease are common in warm and brackish waters like ponds, lakes and streams. Necrotizing" means "causing the death of tissues. The infection spreads rapidly and destroys the body's soft tissue. A cut or gash ? especially a deep one ? opens the door for flesh-eating bacteria. This is the most common way of getting necrotizing fasciitis and it also includes infection due to skin scrape, burn, insect bite, or puncture wound. With lot of patients killed by necrotizing fasciitis each year, early diagnosis of the flesh-eating bacteria is of the most importance. As per Russo ?The infection can rapidly spread at a rate of one centimeter per hour," . During surgical debridement, dead tissue is stripped away. After surgery, patients are monitored for any other complications. If available, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can also be used.
